Upfitter wiring question
This weekend I installed an electronic solenoid valve for my slip-tank so I can fuel up on the go. The valve is 110V AC and had two wiring leads of the same color so I assumed either/or could be used for power and the other for ground. I wired it all up running a power lead from Aux3 back to the valve and grounded the other wire to the body. To my surprise...no power! Can a 110V AC valve not be used in this application or is my wiring simply messed up/not making contact?
Any insight is appreciated
.Thanks!
Your Valve runs on 110 Volts of AC - Alternating Current.
The switch is putting out the wrong type of Electricity.
You can either get a new 12 Volt DC-actuated Valve, or put a DC-to-AC inverter on the output of the Upfitter switch to send the right kind of power to your AC Valve. ( You'd also need to know the Current Rating, and possibly the Inrush Current of the AC valve in order to get the proper sized Inverter.)
(Not sure if being hooked up to DC for an extended period could've damaged your AC valve's actuator.)
Thanks for reply...off to find a 12V valve
