Ive known about this since I got this truck but never gave it much thought. Now that my AC isnt blowing quiet as cold as it should Im wondering why the PO would have done this. Its not exactly the AC mod, right? Its just a straight fitting in place of the vacuum valve. Is this stopping my Max AC from working properly?
My SuperCab didn’t come with one but I believe all CrewCabs did. You can get a replacement valve or do as I did, put in a 5/8” valve with 5/8” copper tube.

Thanks. Think I'll get a replacement valve. I tested it with the vac line on max ac and the valve isnt opening and closing all the way. Probably why the PO disconnected it.
Got the replacement ordered.
Thats funny my 4x4 hasnt been working in auto. I was figuring it was the auto hubs going bad.
I was charging up the ac with one of those cheap diy cans from walmart when I noticed this. The system is sitting at 40 psi but still only blowing at 64 degrees. Time to to take it to an AC specialist.
Could someone tell me which one of the many components is the valve in the photo? My A/C is not working all the time and my auto hubs do not engage, Tomorrow morning (in the cool of the day) I am going to check out the A/C with leak detector and my gauges. Perhaps I need to look at this valve also.Still trying to learn the 6.0 after 15 years. I have replaced the seals on the auto hubs years ago and I have notes on how to diagnose that part of the vacuum systems. Thanks.

second pic it has the grey vacuum line going to it. First pic if you look just left of the oil fill cap you will see a hose clamp that is where it would normally be attached.
Also in the A/C air box there is a little stub for parking the vacuum line if you don't have the valve.
The there are times when someone that did not know has put the line on the valve in the wrong spot.
If you look at the first photo of the valve with the vacuum line going to it that is the correct location.
Do you have the ac in the recircle position after it cools down? I have not recharged my truck but on my Jeep
i would shoot for anywhere between 40-50 degrees coming fron the center panals at 95 ambient. Recircle position should cool better after the initial heat is out of the truck.
