Is there such thing as a vented gas cap that lets pressure out as well as letting air in to eliminate a vacuum in the tank? Now that it is finally warming up here my tank is pressurizing to the point the cab fills up with fumes.
Gas caps that vent to the atmosphere have been illegal since the 70's. The vented one sold today only let air in. They are a PITA on older systems. I have one that I drilled a small 1/16 hole in it to relieve the pressure..
Hey guys I'm needing to buy a new gas cap and I found one in the MAC's catalog but the one I like happens to be for years 48-50. Does anyone know if it will still fit?
I tried calling MAC but whoever I was talking to was not wanting to be helpful.
I don't like the "warning! Fuel spray may cause injury" thing
Like I say, first stop after you gas up vent the tank by loosening the cap. The gas is stored underground and on a hot summer day it goes from a 60-65 degree state to a 80+ degree state.
The sending unit/gasket area can result in fumes escaping too. Use new gasket and suitable sealer if required. Once new filler hose and clamps are installed and everything is squared away there won't be any fuel odors in the cab.
Old Truck Dog, Burlap, and Barn, well that's different.
