So I was thinking about straight piping my 6.0. I've had the truck a week everything engine wise is stock except for head studs. My question is. Are there any negatives to straight piping these engines. Also are there any positives besides the incredible exhaust sound.
You guys sound like a bunch of school kids...... You take loud, I will take fast. Nothing attracts more attention, like the Police, when you go straight pipes.
I have not straighpiped because I tow a lot and when towing with family in truck, I want them to be able to sleep. But I would love to straighpiped with an electric cutout just for me . That would solve the problem early in the am too!
You get a pissed off hair dryer sound at idle ( thanks to some tuning from innovative diesel is gone) and the bark that it makes around 2700 - 3100 has gotten annoying. Find that i try driving under that rpm especially in towns and cities.
Granted, it's been awhile since I've driven mine, but it just isn't that loud to me. There's a tone there, but nothing obnoxious. Certainly none of the CTD straight pipe old dump truck sound.
My neighbor says she can hear the truck start in the morning... she doesn't set an alarm anymore, I leave at 6:40 on the dot!
Brother-in-law says truck is loud when following me towing a 25' camper. Maybe he needs a diesel too, it made him smile and pissed of his old lady!
When driving under overpasses, if you romp it a little, the echo will wake up the bums sleeping under there...
When passing cars that are left lane hogs and they are going to slow, when you finally push them out of that lane.... I give them a little taste of discontentment!
I love the sound! I'm thinking of changing my name to Richard as well... and the nickname that goes along with it I'm sure has been said numerous times by all of the above.
