I love that bark that starts at about 3k. And hearing the jet engine sounds when the vgt kicks in as well.
My truck already draws attention black 4 door long need 8.5 inches tall. So being quite is pointless. If you keep your foot out of it though it's just a great sound at the lower rpms. Only problem is inspections...
Federal law requires the exhaust stay in tact, now if your guy doesn't enforce that is a different story. NC doesn't do emissions testing, neither does Virginia.... and we know what that means
I just recently straight piped mine and LOVE it!! Like 6ohman said... The jet engine sound is awesome!! Romping on it is sooo much better too! Like others said, depends on emissions testing. We use to have it here in ohio but they did away with it more than 10 years ago. My next idea is whether to make mine an axle dump or leave it out the side
Watch where you pipe that thing Ryan, you might end up on our ridiculous stack thread.
Haha, it will def not be turning into a stack! My buddy bought one with a stack and after a few trips down the highway he immediately took the stack off and put it out the back. It was so loud in his cab bc of the stack you couldn't think! . His is now an axle dump bc it was easier to do. I will see if his is any louder than mine being out the side and if not I'm considering it.
Mine is a 2005 with a muffler but not cat, 4" pipe from the turbo back. I get a nice jet engine sound, but it is still quieter than the 2003 7.3 (with OEM exhaust system) I sometimes drive for work.

I'm with you. My truck already draws attention. All black Excursion chrome wheels. Stock exhaust but the po put a nice tip on it. Appears to be around 8 inches or so. To large to not have any sound coming from it.
I ran MBRP turbo back 4" with flow thru muffler and retained the cat (was still under warranty when I did that). I don't have the jet engine whistle when idling, but as soon as I give it any throttle she whistles a sweet tune, and my bark kicks in at around 2500 rpm on up. Throaty sound under 2500 rpm. I love it.
