After struggling trying to get the 2 bolts and nuts in the shift tube to the flange, my wife was tired of the cussing. She took a look and thought a moment, walked away. She then brought me out a small bit of pvc pipe that fit of the bearings.
That pipe had the job done in less than 2 minutes. All I had to do was center the end around the bearings, push down and it held nice even pressure, allowing me to seat the screws and wrench the nuts down.
So lesson #1 marry someone smarter than you.
