xlt question

I just got rid of my 00 f250 4x4 7.3 lariat and got a 99 cc f350 drw xlt.

Does the xlt come with the keyless entry or was that just a lariat option?

The po took the dome light bulbs out. The door ajar light stays on on the dash. I'm guessing that's going to be the door latch.

And none of the door locks work. Looks like I'm going to have to brake out the soldering iron, a few pennies and some snips

Something like this? Not sure if that is a Lariat thing or not my truck is an XLT but I put mine on.

Try spraying some lubrication (WD-40 or liquid wrench) in the door latch. May be some dirt and crud in there and not receiving a signal.

Mine doesn't have that. I was just trying to see if the xlt has it so I can program a remote to the truck. After I fix the locks of course

Not sure on the locks, but you should be able to program one to the truck. Mine is an E99 and never had one from the factory and was able to program just fine.

Ok thanks. I'm going to fix the locks sometime next week. Then I'll try it out

Try looking into this for your door locks. It may just the actuators.

Do you here the motor trying to work but nothing is happening?

i replace the actuators, they are only $32 for a set from amazon, rock auto, or ebay. i got 6 years out of the least set so far.
the door ajar and lights staying on is a dirty switch. spray wd40 down into the door latch and open close the door about 20 times. this will clean the switch contacts.

as far as remote access goes, that is a tossup. my truck is fully loaded with every option EXCEPT FOR REMOTE.
to see if it is remote ready, cycle the key from off to run. if it is remote ready, the doors will unlock or lock on either the 4th or 8th cycle. if the door locks do not cycle, the truck is not remote ready.
i fixed the no remote ready by installing a viper remote start and tied the door locks into the remote start.

I didn't know the actuators were that cheap. ill order a set. I have plenty of wd40 so ill try that in the morning as well. I do have a extra remote from my old f250 just didn't try to cycle the key because none of the lock actuators work. I can hear them try to work. and I had the viper remote start in mind already. it doesn't help that when I leave my camper for work that there is a car audio shop across he road with their remote start signs out front. its just that much more tempting. just let them have it and walk across the street to m camper and go back to bed.
