Hey guys, Which hub are you guys running? Timkin seems to be popular. I`m not going to the dealership and pay double for the same stuff. Not a huge price difference in the other brands. My truck is a 99 born feb. 99 4x4. is that a 2 wheel abs? Got the wifes car at work and looking up parts.
Started out taking my grandson fishing. We made it about five miles or so from home and hit a ruff patch in the road. That's when she went into the bad front end wobble. I pulled over and didn't see anything right off. Got a little further to a school and checked lugs and crawled all under looking and found nothing. Started off again and cant go over 30ish and it starts to wobble. So, had to cancel our fishing, turn around and limp home at 25mph with the flashers on. Pulled over several times and could start to smell the bearings burning up. We made it home and now am going to do both hubs.
If you talking "hub" as in manual locking hubs I swear by WARN Premiums. Have had them on two trucks and never had an issue. Plus there customer service is top notch from what I hear when you need to use it.
If you talking "hub" as in front unit bearings I use TIMKEN from autozone. Nice quality and has a 3 yr warranty. Should be around $199 a piece.
check rock auto or riffraff diesel, both sites sell the timkin's.... when i did mine 4 years ago i used rock auto, they beat the hell outta everyone else on price.
Thanks yall. Got me some timkins coming. Hope they will be here when I get off this night shift in a few days. Im just lucky I was close to home when this issue came up. It was kind of all of a sudden.

i just remembered! make sure you get the right wheel studs! theirs fine and course thread, when i did mine i was given course thread when in fact i needed fine thread. just something to keep in mind!
being a 99 truck i think yours is course thread, but check your truck to be sure.

Yea, I ordered the course threads. When ordering they have manufacture dates to go by. Its up to 3/28/99 and after 3/28/99. Mine has a feb. manufacture date. Thanks

i would tend to agree, but not always can you judge by the build date!! not hard to change lug studs! does it make sense, no... can it happen? hell yeah!
Ok guys heres a weird one. I started tearing down the pass. side front bearing yesterday. When I got in there there was no abs wire on the hub. But, then I noticed there is a plug for it hanging down. Dont have an abs light on and its been like this since I got the truck. Guess I should try plugging it in???? What yall think??
Also, this bearing, which was still good btw, there was no o ring on the hub when I pulled it out. I think this one was changed at a ford dealer right before I got the truck. I got to run to town then gonna get back on the truck.
Did you buy the truck used? My guess would be that somebody tried putting the wrong bearing on there and just made it work. If your truck is a early bird you need bearing with no abs hole. But I personally but the ones for front abs for my early bird that way you have a very easy way to grease the bearing with a grease gun. Or use the fitting riffraff sells to grease them up.
