My 4x4 switch seems to be taking a long time to lock into 4x4?
I leave my hubs in the locked position because I know the vacuum part of things doesn't work.
On my 02 when I turn the switch on the dash it goes into 4x4 almost right away.
On this truck you have to put it in a long ways before you need , plus I had to back up and fool around to get 4x4 to work once yesterday?
Can the switch on the dash go bad or is there something on transfercase that could be wrong?
Im NOT looking for help fixing the vacuum part, its the manual switching thats not working?
For an 05 truck, once you turn the selector switch to 4WD a relay energizes to send power to the actuator motor mounted on the transfer case. Once the transfer case shifts into 4WD, the vacuum relay applies vacuum to the hubs.
The relay (2 of them) are located in a box between the driver's side battery and the fender. They are identical. One sends engagement power the transfer case motor and one is used to send disengagement power.
My guess is that either a relay is on its way out or the motor on the transfer case is rusted or sticking.

What would the thing with vacuum lines and a electric plugin be that I changed?
It was on the passenger side inner fender.
I think you need to check the motor at the transfer case and see if it is bad.
The 4x4 works now after a fashion...........................
Its the AC that doesn't blow out of the AC vents , and I remember reading somewhere the 4x4 vacuum and the blend door were related somehow?
