With the recent pouring rains, I've been able to trace an interior water leak to my wind wings. I've replaced the gasket on them, but the handles seem pretty worn out and dont seal the window well when they are closed.
I could stuff matchbooks under the latch or use RTV, which I think is standard fare, but I'd like to actually fix the issue so they can be used.
Anyone have any tips on this?
Also, searches aren't turning up much and I have a hard time believing this is an isolated event. What is the proper name of these windows?
If the leaks are, as you believe, due to the handles being worn down, then I would expect it to help: the new ones will have new nylon tips that aren't worn out, so they'll close tighter.
X2 on no adjustment and the arm is held on with a VERY small roll pin that takes a VERY VERY small punch/drift pin to get it out.
And the nylon tips are glued on or some how made to stay in there with one small tip on the nylon piece. I have removed the nylon tips before, but have had no luck with getting a replacement.
If you have none locking vent wings now you will need to get the same replacement piece. Till then stick a folded up piece of paper in there.
I realise this is an old thread however for those revisiting with similar problems, I've found placing the cap of a toothpaste tube or a rubber cap such as found on new injectors etc over the end of the lever works nicely to pull the window in closer with the benefit that it stays attached when open and actually doesn't look that bad.
