I just read an idea...I'm having a hell if a time trying to find the shorter bell housing for under half a grand.
What if I machine out a pilot bushing the would accept the shorter input shaft? As long as the clutch portion isn't affected on splines, I don't see why this wouldn't work; your thoughts?

This thought was inspired by a Google search. There was an incomplete thread on another forum speaking about it.
I have access to a decently well equipped machine shop, and would just need to figure out material and dimensions.
I also like this idea because the toploader I have with the bellhousing I have is the same length as a c6 that was previously in this truck at one point...which means I have a driveshaft for it.
Shortening the setup with a different bell housing would likely mean different driveshaft, which cost money.
