Blowing stop light fuse in excursion

Could someone help? I have a 2015 prowler lynx travel trailer. I noticed this weekend that I am blowing the #20 (I believe) fuse under the hood everytime I apply the brakes when hooked to my travel trailer. Hooked to my utility trailer which is a 4 way plug and it works fine. I have checked the grounds on the travel trailer and in the junction box; no naked wires or possibility of a short I can find. I heard there are two different wiring options ford offered on their 7 way plugs. Has anyone had an issue or knows enough about the trailer wiring to help?

Thanx

If it blows the fuse only when hooked to the Prowler, there is a short. Tracking it down can be a pain, but since it blows only when you brake I am guessing the lead to the electric brakes has shorted, possible at the axle where the wire passes through the axle from the driver to passenger side.

It is usually pretty easy to trace the brake lead. Just check the owner's manual for your truck to be sure the fuse is for the trailer brakes and then start checking.

May take a little time, but should not be too hard to do.

Good luck,

Steve

I dont know of 2 different wiring options on the 7 way, I work on fords from 99 to 2015's and the 7 way are wired the same, this is how they are wired, Steve is right you have a short, usually blue wire is for the trailer brakes but someone could have used anything, so follow the wires to the trailer brakes, behind the wheels and look for chaffed wires or pinched start at the plug and work your way back. It just takes time, you will get it.
