just bought camper knowing 2000 expedition will struggle.need suggestions on what to do to have it tow 10000 lbs trailer.and being cost effective or look for another truck.really like what i have and is good for family instead up pickup.any thought on what can be done to tow my camper.my thoughts were change gears to 4.30,cold air intake, new exhaust, air bags in rear springs for starters.
I would switch to a pickup. Lots of changes trying to get something to do what it was not designed to do. Every time I modify something I end up wishing I had just changed to another vehicle.
If you need the interior room for the family maybe look into an Excursion, starting with a real 3/4 ton chassis will make for a better tow rig than the Expy will be. It took some work to get my EX to where I have it now, but I am very pleased with it's performance as our tow rig with our 11k TT.

My EX is lifted 3 7/8" up front and 4 1/2" on the rear as the result of swapping in a set of F-350 X code front springs (snow plow prep springs) with the removed top overload from the rear B codes added to the front pack. On the back it has the already mentioned B code springs with two leaves from the EX stock pack added (more for the thickness than spring capacity) as well as the taller blocks from a 1 ton and 2 additional thick leaf pieces between the springs and blocks.
The stock EX springs were a little to Soccer Mom squishy for the heavy trailers we pull and this spring swap/upgrade made it feel like a different vehicle!
It also looks better now with 35" tires, the signature pic shows it with 32" tires.
No way you can be close to legal with the Expedition. 10K camper is already past max, add in 1K for the family and their things, which all subtracts from payload, and you're way beyond even fudge factor. You need another truck, a very much bigger 'nother truck. Like others suggested, if you need interior room you're going to be looking for those 3/4t ton SUV's, otherwise known as unicorns. Think Excursion, Suburban 2500.
