Yesterday I cut the plastic winterizing "boat wrap" off the 5th wheel. It 'weathered' the winter beautifully!!! Checked inside and everything was exactly like we left it in the fall.
No sign of ANY mildew or any moisture damage or even a sign of any. I can assure you that next fall my RV will be again wrapped via the "boat wrap" method!
It really looked great after unwrapping it. Clean/bright exterior and no bad smells inside. The wife LOVED it. No cleaning to do at all. There was one 3" stain on the front where a fold in the wrap held some water against the gel-coat which wiped clean, no problem.
Bud, that's GREAT news!!!! If for some wierd reason I am still up north for next winter, that's probably what I will be doing...
Mine did okay with it's king-size Jammies too...
But I did get a few mice inside... Evidently Bounce Dryer sheets changed their recipe... Grrrr......
Mice didn't really do any damage though and they must have only gotten in during the last week before pulled it out of storage because the Decon was mostly eaten up and their little bodies were still limber...
No stink inside though.. The dryer sheets at least made it smell nice!
I looks like I missed this thread (probably because I'm not used to the new site format yet)
Glad to see that the boat wrap worked out well for you. It sounds like a viable alternative though in my area, probably going to stay way too pricy vs the usual ADCO cover.
A quick report on my ADCO cover - and using AMAZON system of 1 through 5 stars, is probably a 3.5. It did its job of keeping the 5er clean. The main negative is pulled stitching where the straps are sewn on. No, it had noting to do with my installation as reading reviews said this is an known problem. Another is the useless patch material - it wont stay stuck. I missed padding a couple spots and it wore through. I'll need to sew them or use contact cement.
Randy - mice are often a way of life with an RV. I had to literally gut ours this spring to do a full clean up. Mouse poop and pee on my skivvies and the kitchen stuff isn't nice. I used two full cans of expanding 'Great Stuff' foam, a tube plus of exterior silicon caulk and made up blocking pieces to close their doorways even though Keystone had filled most others. As far as De-Con - I wont use it though it does work well. If a mouse goes into an inaccessible place and dies and rots, that smell will linger. The PO of our house must have used a case of that stuff as years later I still found an occasional pan and skeleton.
As I said up above, I WILL be having it wrapped again in the fall. My age just stops me from doing stupid stuff anymore.....like doing things I want to do on the roof of the RV. A smarter attitude prevails. My neck is worth an annual 2-300 bucks!
