I paid 1800 for my 86 cclb 4*4 6.9 manual trans with lots of rust, but I also knew it was the only chance I was getting to get what I got in a long time. Plus I was doing military stuff and had the guy wait a month. But otherwise I would have haggled a bit. Read up on some posts, some guys think its worth an astronomical amount of money. Really nice and low mileage I'd say 2000 - 2,500 is pushing it.
Is a 7.3 l idi for 3700 worth it with 304k miles on it all stock but heavier leaf springs
depends.
a one owner,well maintained,garage kept,mint cream puff with a spotless paint job and interior you could eat off the floors off in this config;
92-94 f350 w/ xlt trim,4x4,crew cab,auto trans,sporting a turbo and blowing ice cold a/c then yeah.more than likely worth every penny despite the high miles.though the engine is at it's life expectancy a truck like this would worthy of another engine of course.
a beater with a heater 83-91 reg or super cab,manual trans,4wd or not doesn't matter.too many miles for the vintage and combo to be worth this $.
you can add more springs to a truck easily in an afternoon.this wont drive up the resale value of the truck.that could hurt as some wouldn't prefer the harsher ride.

What FORDF250HDXLT said, except for some details. I could see a 83-91 being worth it. I'd pay $3700 for the right combination and condition of any year IDI.
A really nice F250 crew-cab short bed 4wd with a ZF5.
A really nice 86-91 F350 crew-cab dually 4wd with a ZF5.
"7.3 l idi" describes an ENGINE. Presumably you're asking about a TRUCK. So tell us about the TRUCK.
Year, model, cab/bed config, trim level, tranny - Those are the "major" price factors, that is, the ones that set the _range_ of price.
The next level of factors, that determine where _within_ the range to price the truck, are: amount/location of RUST, maintenance history, miles on the engine, work required to make roadworthy.
I gave $1700 for my 94 factory turbo crew cab dually 2wd with 155K miles. 5 spd. The deals are out there. cruise and power windows even work and minimal rust.

WOW your signature, My bucket truck is a 95 Kodiak 7000 8.0 gas, 6 speed with no syncros in 2,3 or 4th, hauling the chipper with a cummins 4bt and a 99 top kick gas motor 6 speed with 5:33 gears top speed 50 @ 5,000 rpms for our log truck, and that pulls the stump grinder. I am jealous.

It all depends on what you want, how bad is the rust 300,000 on a 7.3 no problem, when I sold my 86 with the 6.9 I had 425,000 and only pushed a little bit of blue on start up after it sat for a while, sold it to my friend who lives 4 houses down from me so I still see it every day got 3,000 for it, and he just mounted 42 swampers on it looks awesome, now he is pushing 500,000 and just had to replace the fuel pump. Drives it everyday, my truck a 99 PSD has 275,000 on the clock and will keep it for another hundred, no problem.
