No problem there Bill. I was scratching my head on this one and recall a recent thread about diesels and code retrieval on mid 90's trucks. I was not aware if that also applied to a 1990 model. I learn something new everyday too
I know no diesel ever had EEC-IV (Electric Engine Control 4) as it is stated in a lot of manuals.
But was the codes from the 1990 TECA with a analog meter the same as the OBD-1 two digit codes for the E4OD. I take it they were.
That's true, no diesel ever had EEC-IV. The two digit codes are almost the same. The transmission controller with the diesel has a few unique codes that are not in the gas systems.

The 1994-1997 Powerstroke diesels had EEC-V controllers, but unique software. The software was strange, and was written outside the mainstream Ford software development community. It was somewhere between OBD-I and OBD-II.
[QUOTE=subford;15367647]I did not know it was possible to get codes on a 1990.
How would you do it?
Did they even have codes back then?
This question has come up before and I do not think anyone was able to get codes out of one.
I do not think they ever had the OBD-1 system on these trucks. They used some off the wall system.
