I have an F350 King dually that I bought new in 2005. I've been reading on here about the 15deg differential between the ect & eot. At 75,000mi I replaced the egr cooler with a Bulletproof cooler and replaced the oil cooler at the same time.At 94,000 I installed a coolant filter. Now at 105,000 I,m getting a PO12F code and the dreaded wrench on the dash. Normal driving it stays around 10 or 15deg difference, but if I start towing or take it to 75 mph it will go to 20-25 dif. There was less than 20,000mi on the oil cooler before I put the coolant filter on. My question is,could the oil cooler be plugged up in less than 20,000mi? Thanks in advance guys.

What do the TFT, ECT and EOT read after an overnight cold soak? Should be within a degree or two of one another. What is the ECT getting up to?
Unfortunately the heat exchanger can start to clog with impurities as soon as the motor is restarted. It extremely hard to get out all of the particles, especially those in the radiator and heater, bypass filter or not. I had a complete rebuilt motor installed on my truck that had an coolant filter installed, used Rotella ELC and still I watched the delta climb in time. And this is with the system completely flushed well over what people do on these forums a few thousand miles before the original motor failed.
A coolant filter helps but is not a perfect solution. The heat exchanger turns out to be a very efficient coolant filter.
