I just bought a 2000 XLT 4.6 V8 4x4 with extended cab. The truck only has 147,000 km on it and it cost me $1500, which sounds good except that it has a lot of rust. Inner and outer rockers, door bottoms, cab floor, cab cross members, bed, all need replacing or patching.
I've bought replacement outer rockers and fabbed inners, the cross members I can patch up, the floor pan is more of a problem because it has so many corrugations in the stamping that it's going to be hard to patch. I'd really like to get a replacement panel but I can't find one online. I can find floor panels for pre-97 trucks and I can find a reasonable selection of other panels for 97-03 but no floor panels. Can anyone recommend a source?
Thanks in advance - I suspect I'm going to need a lot of help with this project!
i have the exact same situation here except mine is 1999 ...
been searching online for over 2 hours now .. cannot find floor pans anywhere .
where did you find the fabbed inners ?
I didn't find the inners but I didn't really look because I just fabbed them out of 18g satin finish sheet. I got the outers from Auto Finishers Supply Co. Never did find floor panels, ended up doing a lot of cutting, bending and welding.
