7.3 piston question

ok I am pulling the pistons because I am stupid and installed the odds on the even side during my rebuild that is besides the point lol but looking ot stuff online I found this on the service guide can anyone explain what A B and C are there is no key on the guide I got it from I am thinking A is the top ricng B mid and c the oil rings need help asap will be pulling and reinstalling when I get home

My understanding is that it doesn't really matter how the rings are oriented as long as the gaps are staggered. The rings move around as the engine runs anyway, so any position you set won't stay very long.

You usually want to keep ring gap AWAY from the thrust side of the piston, and don't line the gaps up.

A is expander for oil ring gap.
