I posted this in the 73-79 forum but thought I would share it here as well. I made my own high mount alt bracket for a 3G alternator. It's not up and running yet, but here's a few pics of the setup mocked up. Let me know what you guys think.
Don't mind the vise grips. My bolt wasn't long enough.
Glad to see you didn't waste your money on the L&L garbage mounts. There mounts are so bad I sent them back and put my home made ones back on. They were so bad I think it would have thrown the belt so I didn't even start it.

I was fortunate enough to stumble across an E350 cube van in the boneyard with a big block in it. It was an 80s model I assume because it had an AIR pump on it. Anyhow it had the complete bracket and pulley set up on it including a Saginaw power steering pump. Did some trimming and reshaping on the alternator bracket to remove the mounting ears for the AIR pump for a cleaner look. I really like this set up because it mounts the alternator up higher. Also the power steering pump uses a double belt set up.
