That in itself is something to be said..

That weight and Grade.... You can expect to loose about 1/3 of your normal mileage. So, I "guestimating" you're getting about 13 - 15 MPG not loaded? How was your Oil Consumption?

Done the trip many times before. 1100 miles total. Zero oil consumption. DP tuner 80 tow, and some other mods. 3.73 gears SUCK.

Stock trans cooler with two temp gauges... never gotten above 190*... which must be some miracle.

Driving empty around town i get 11mpg and burn about one quart per 1k miles.

It's a trade off. In this application you would have actually gained some MPG. Although un loaded your paying the Piper.

Your Engine seems to be very sound.

11 MPG unloaded sounds a bit low to me, I get that much towing my 11K fiver in the mountains. Highway/town in the hills empty about 17 MPG AVG. (3.73 gears)

16-19 MPG empty with 3.73 gears and the weight of a 4X4 with a topper.

I'd stop using that 80 HP tow tune, and go to something more like a 40 HP tow tune. What are your EGTs doing?

EGTs are usually decent but occasionally I will have to back off or downshift to keep them in check going up hills. I watch them closely.

Your towing mpg sounds good to me. I see between 6-10 towing about the same weight in the mountains of Colorado.

Same with me. 8-9 mpg average at 24k gross through one mountain after another. Several steep grades of course.
