Mileage Concerns
I purchased an 04 F-350 CC SD, short box in July, and bringingit home from the dealer (300 miles), I made 16 MPG. After that first tank, I have struggled to make 12 MPG, empty, all highway driving 70 mph. I now have 2000 miles on it and have made my first towing trip (a 38' gooseneck, triple axel, 15,000 lbs, with 2 snowmobiles, maybe 17500 lbs max loaded) and I am not even making 8 MPG!!! Is this normal? The low mileage is killing me. Any ideas on how to remedy this? It gets rather old having to re-fuel ever 160 miles.

not trying to put you off, but there is another thread here dealing with that very same problem--read on a little further--it's just been the past couple of days. I don't think he's remedied his problem either--strange your mileage is going down down down instead of up as it breaks in. any other peculiar problems you can notice?? Also--how are you calculating your mileage--by hand or the overhead lie-o-meter??

I do see less than 8 MPG from time to time pulling my 30' toy hauler. It weighs in around 11000 lbs. Most of the time I'm up in the 9s.
Unloaded on the highway I see 17 to 19.
With all that weight I don't think that what you are seeing is all that unusual.

I will check on that post. I have not noticed any other problems. The thing runs like a top, but the mileage, in my opinion, should be be better then 11 mpg empty, and 7 loaded.

i would get the dealer to re-flash it. somethin is very wrong. nobody should get worse than me, and i get 14-15 cruisin at 70 no trailer, and no less than 8.5 with 20,000-28,000lbs behind me thru the mountains. even when i have a high wind-catchin load, it wont go below 8!!!
