Just thinking out loud, but what other Ford automatic transmissions would bolt up to a 223?

Old Ford-o-matics, and maybe one year of the C4 from a Galaxie that used the 223. IIRC FWIW.

theres an outfit in Minnesota called transmission adapters . com that you can put a later model tranny behind a 223 but they are very expensive, about $900 and you'll have to use their starter, solenoid, etc.
