tranny question

Will a 5.0 bolt up to my 97 4.2 auto trans or should I just pickup a c6?

Same bolt pattern bell to trans, right?

Isn't your '97 trans electronic control? That might be the deal killer if you are getting away from the electronics in your swap.

Starter, ring gear teeth, flex plate, not sure. But the E question first methinks.

Yes, it will bolt up. But as was pointed out the electronics are going to be real expensive headache.

a guy I know tried to tell me if I leave the computer hooked to the trans then it would still work just like stock.

It will as long as it still gets it's information from all the engine sensors. So it needs to be running the 5.0L engine. I don't think it's going to do that....

nope it won't be running the motor at all,this guy said they did it on a 98 firebird,but ford might be different.
