Dakota Trans Swap
Anyone ever look into swapping a 5 spd trans out of a dakota behind a 223 or yblock? I was out scrap yardin' yesterday and found a trans, it is a new process a535. It looks like the face may actually bolt up to the bellhousing, or be close enough that too much modifying isnt needed, and all importantly, the input shaft is long enough (i think, more precise measuring needed....). It would prolly not require more work than a t5 swap, and the trans is readily available, and cheaper than a t5...just pondering....any comments, or experience with it?

Yeah, I wandered about that...one of my instructors at tech school had a 5 spd 4x4 dakota, and he said every few years he had to have the tranny pulled out and something reworked. But people use them for OD upgrades in older mopars behind 318s, and the little 223 isnt gonna be making probably even as much power as the 3.9.
