When we were trouble shooting on the first day the installer had me to use slide on controller and he stood near the pump so he would know how soon it came on. It took 6 bars to light up before pump came on. A real delay. Of course we were sitting still, not moving, Not sure how it is programmed to work when sitting still but after he installed Prodigy2 we performed same test and pump came on at first bar like I think it should.
Still waiting on Ford Dealer Svr Mgr. to get back to me on what Ford has to say. I know it will take awhile because of the Holidays and I understand because I have been and will be very busy also.
Thanks for your interest and advise. I am confidant that I will have this solved sooner or later. All I've got is time anyway.
I had to remove a tire to have the valve stem replaced and this is what the brakes look like with 3K miles with lots of Rocky Mountians and some 14% grades.
I was happy to see that the pads weren't dragging on the rotors so I know the calipers are moving on the brackets and the side pins are working. I was not to impressed with all excess paint on the calipers and brackets when I got them but a few minutes cleaning them up was worth the time.
Another rving friend of ours has the same disks and he was wearing the outside pad so I told him to check the area where the calipers slide on the brackets and sure enough the place that installed them never cleaned them up so the stationary pad couldn't move away from the rotor like it should.
I have a follow up on drum to disk conversion, I helped a fellow RVer convert his Ecel trailer to disk. We both have Dexter 7K axles with Ner-R-Lub bearings but he had the standard 7K brakes and I had 8K HD brakes, the biggest difference is mine has a 4 bolt flange with 1/2 " bolts and his had 5 bolt flanges with 3/8" bolts so the caliper mounting brackets can't be interchanged. We both ended up with 13" rotors and the same calipers just different mounts. If you plan on doing this conversion be sure and take one of your wheels off to verify what you have before you order parts. He also went with the Dexter actuator and couldn't be happier with the setup.
Disc brakes are better able to handle heat & resist locking up. I'm certain that they were a good upgrade. I bet stopping your trailer is less nerve racking now!
