2008 Edge SEL running rough - throwing code P0203
But now its gotten really bad, about 2 weeks ago upon start up it started intermittently idling rough and driving poorly, the next time it was started it ran fine, then again it ran rough and finally the check engine came on.
I got the codes for
P0203 - Injector circuit / open cylinder #3
I thought that testing the #3 injector would be the first thing to check, I switched the #3 and #4 injectors and nothing changed.
This leads me to believe the injector itself isn't the problem but perhaps the wiring?
Has anyone had experience with this?
- First, using a DVOM check the resistance of the injector. If it isn't within specs, then replace the injector.
- Check for voltage at the fuel injector connector. It should have 10 volts or more.
- Visually check the connector for damage or broken wires.
- Visually check the injector for damage.
- If you have access to an injector tester, activate the injector and see if it operates. If the injector operates, then you likely have either an open in the wiring, or a blocked injector. If you do not have access to a tester, swap the injector with another one and see if the code changes. If the code changes, then change the injector.
- At the PCM, remove the driver wire from the PCM connector and Ground the wire. (Make sure you have the correct wire. If you're not sure, do not attempt) The injector should activate
- Replace the injector
so I removed the intake manifold and did a couple things to determine if the spark plug or coil where part of the issue.
switched the #3 spark plug with #1
switched coil pack from #2 and #3
neither had any effect and still had the same DTC of P0203
at that point I put everything back together with #3 injector unplugged, I started the car and checked the voltage and it was the same as the other cylinders I checked.
I then plugged the injector harness back in and #3 started back up and its running fine now.
I have no idea what is going on at this point...
