Hello all, new to the forum but a long time follower. On a family vacation in our 2013 6.7 pulling a 41ft trailer to the Seattle area from Alberta Canada. Made it to destination yesterday. Woke up this morning started truck and cel on. Bought a code reader at the local napa store and read P206 fault inj 6 open circuit. Looking for advice on dealers in the area. First 3 dealers in the Kent area to busy to look at till late next week. Found a dealer up in Tacoma, lake wood willing to look at it Monday. Any one have experience with the dealer good bad? And second question any thoughts on driving the truck around with a inj fault? Thought I had read here some where that 6 was the regen cylinder....
I wouldn't drive it more than you need to get it to a dealer. Here is some more information I found.
Causes The causes of a P0206 engine light code could be any of the following:
Bad injector. This is usually the cause of this code but doesn't rule out the possibility of one of the other causes
Open in the wiring to the injector
Short in the wiring to the injector Bad PCM
Possible Solutions First, using a DVOM check the resistance of the injector. If it isn't within specs, then replace the injector. Check for voltage at the fuel injector connector. It should have 10 volts or more. Visually check the connector for damage or broken wires. Visually check the injector for damage. If you have access to an injector tester, activate the injector and see if it operates. If the injector operates, then you likely have either an open in the wiring, or a blocked injector. If you do not have access to a tester, swap the injector with another one and see if the code changes. If the code changes, then change the injector. At the PCM, remove the driver wire from the PCM connector and Ground the wire. (Make sure you have the correct wire. If you're not sure, do not attempt) The injector should activate Replace the injector
Thanks for the reply, looking like about 23 mile drive. The one dealer service writer figured with with this fault the inj would be off. What do you think the risk is? Leaking inj? And any idea how long inj swap out takes on the 6.7?

It's under warranty - have it towed by Ford Roadside Assistance. No use messing around. When my NOX sensor went in Indianapolis Ford Roadside Assistance was great. Towed the truck and trailer for me. Of course it happened at 4 pm on a Saturday and couldn't get into the dealer until Monday AM but Ford paid for the towing and storage of my truck and trailer and had the tow company take the truck in at 8am Monday morning to the dealer. Of course my truck went into reduced power mode prior to this, but it doesn't sound like your truck has done that yet? Is it running real rough? If so, just tow it.
The best one that is right by my house is MullinaxFord(What used to be AllstarFord) in Olympia/Lacey, WA. Their diesel master tech is one of the best. If you need any help man, let me know, I live in the Lacey/Olympia area, so not too far where your at.
Injectors don't take long at all to swap, on these trucks, there is a fuel line that goes to the injector that is one time use and must be replaced when the injector does(usually comes with the injector), and the injectors have an IQA code that must be programmed into the PCM using the Ford IDS system.
Truck is running normal. If I wouldn't have bought scanner and pulled the code I wouldn't know there was anything wrong. My money was going to be on a nox sensor or def pump issue as I've put two pumps in now. Im @60399 miles. I don't believe road side would be covered at that mileage? I'm assuming the concern is putting a rod through the side of the block under these conditions?
Thanks for the offer tofan, trying not to turn this into something more serious than it needs to be..... Know anything about the lake wood dealer ship? I've read in the past of guys having trouble down in these parts!

I just know to never take my truck there. You should be fine, just keep us updated. Worse comes to worse if they can't figure it out, you can have it towed to the MullinaxFord in Olympia and they will get you fixed up good.
What was your truck doing when it got the engine code?

We towed in Friday from Spokane, truck preformed great handled the tow up the Columbia river nicely. Got camp set up and shut the truck down for the night. Woke up Saturday started it up and truck threw a cel light, it was running fine no sputter, no vibration nothing..... Tried a few dealers around here and they were to busy to take a look so I picked up a code reader, and here we are.
Yes, it's booked in Monday morning. Just picked up a rental so we can resume our vacation plans. Started the truck to go get the rental two miles away, the CEL cleared but after a few minutes of running the light came back on.
likely this will be a quick fix since you caught it early.
Be sure to drain your fuel water separator and be able to prove that you have changed your fuel filters either by hours/miles or the pcm prompt.
For this purpose I use the ford owners website and log all my maintance. They can see it there.
For this reason I buy the FMPP and let the dealers do the maintenance, she's all up to date!!!! You think the dreaded fuel quality has anything to do with this? I made sure on the drive down I was fuelling at reputable name stations, they all appeared to be moving volumes of diesel too. I have yet to hear of anyone from my area with a fuel related failure, I don't know how you guys drive any where down here in confidence. I've cut open filters in the past looking for filings, drained the separator into a jug looking for signs of water it comes out clean. I was talking to the tech that did one of my services this winter and he commented on how the filters looked new. Sure hope the fuel quality doesn't come into play here......
