... Since I have not been doing J-turns (like some I know) my transmission still works.
I don't J-turn, I attempt donuts and the inertia pulls it backwards once I reach 180°
For 246k miles and a LOT of abuse, I'm surprised my trans last as long as it did to be honest. So many boost launches and off-roading, it didn't owe me much hah. Still drives fine but whenever I go beyond normal people throttle it slips every gear to the redline
Soon as SunCoast gets me my damn billet coast drum the rebuild begins. That's the last part I need.
So the retailer didn't want to part with him $$, so we wound up with me paying the difference for a GTP38r and him paying the overnight shipping. So I am happy, just a lighter in the wallet.
Question--the pressure boot that attaches the red pressure line to the wastegate actuator is degraded and split. I can't seem to find the proper term to find it for sale on the internet. Anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks guys.
In all honestly you don't HAVE to use it. Razzi and I along with several others have been running without the line hooked up for a long time. The waste gate will still actuate under spring pressure, IIRC that vacuum line starts to creep it open at a measly 5psi. Ensure the arm is adjusted properly and you'll be fine.

Sorry to hijack a bit. So Matt, you and Razzi run with the red line disconnected from the wastegate? You just plugged it and left it laying? And how does one ensure the arm is adjusted correctly? In 7.3 forums I've seen people talk about this stuff but i didn't quite understand it all.

Unplugged it and plugged the red line, then a cap on the waste gate just for a warm and fuzzy.
IIRC, you remove the waste gate and hook it up to an air source with an accurate gauge. Gradually increase the pressure until the waste gate opens, and check what pressure it does so at. Shortening the rod increases the seat pressure, as in more holding force when closed. What you set it to is a topic of debate, I have mine set at 25psi. 20psi may be a safer alternative, but mine has been at 25 for well over a year of daily use and no problems.
Installed the 38r this pm, but only had a chance to idle it for 5 minutes or so before I had to take the family somewhere. Feel 100% better about the install and product tho...
