My father in law and I went on a charity motorcycle ride today and one of the raffle prizes was this tailgate bench. 4x4 treated lumber, heavy duty with a totally reworked tailgate with custom paint job. I figure, what the heck, I will spend the $10 bucks for tickets and take a chance. And I won.
So do I
Try to sell the bench, get a good tailgate, and use the leftover cash to get carpet?
Or
Spray it to match my truck, use my old tailgate for the bench and keep the bench. I really don't need a bench. Maybe sell the patina bench. The only work I would have to do to it is cut off 4 tabs that were welded on to secure it to the bench frame.
I'd keep the bench intact personally. I'm sure you could swap it with somebody who's got a nice tailgate that plans on building a bench out of it if that's your goal.
