tranfer case leaking bad?????
I just went to a friends property and due to the way a bunch of cars were parked the only way for me to get out was back up a steep driveway that is just freshly poured rock.
So I had to put it in 4x4 for the first time.
Well I backed up, bout 125 yards or so. Got to the main road and when I got out to unlock my hubs I noticed a trail of fluid all the way to the gravel and down the path, right up to underneath my truck.
At first I though maybe my front Diff but upon a quick inspection it appeared to come from the transfer case as that's where it stopped.
I unlocked hubs, put in back in 2wd drove about 100 feet or so, no more fluid trail.
Came home, checked trans and oil levels and all are good.
Any ideas on that, why would it leak when placed into 4x4??
Drove about 100 or so feet, got out, no fluid trail
Check the transmission level.
Then have a look at where the dipstick tube goes into the trans.
If it's a two part type you may have a failed O-ring and with
you nose pointed down hill like it was some fluid got got.
