I had the slop box as well. It was covered under an extended warranty so being in the wilderness I ended up taking it to a dealer 70 miles away. They put in a new Ford box. A little improvement but not great. It does track straight. I have not done the spring swap yet which is planned. I would not put another so called "factory box" in again. I would spend the money for a Redhead.
Looks like they''re around $440 not counting core charge
$356 plus core.
Being a "shop" I got mine for $295 or so. And I "prepaid" the return shipping to them on the core. I assumed they get a better shipping rate than me going into UPS off the street.
For those of you that have new steering boxes, did you all ensure that you received the Excursion specific ratio?
That is a great point and personally I would actually want the "quicker" ratio from the superduty. I remember when I first got the X that the steering seemed "slowed" or was a higher ratio then what I was used to.

That's interesting, I had no idea about this. I will pull my invoice and inquire.
I also don't understand the price variance. They have an msrp online, I paid 25 shipping each way, and after the core was credited I'm in mine $345 dollars with a shop discount.
