Hi all,
I have a 01 diesel 4x4. F250. At 40 to around 60mph I have vibration and again at around 30mph. At 65 and above no vibration. On acceceleration when going 40 to 60 there is like a clunk I can feel in the floorboard. When I stop and put it in reverse there is nothing but when put in drive ther is a clunk that sound like metal. Is this a u-joint or carrier? Thinks for your help!
Have someone put it in gear while you look at carrier and u-joints.
I recommend Spicer non-greaseable u-joints if that's what ya need. They have a MUCH better grease seal and tend to last longer since dirt can't get in them as easy.
The clunk indicates that you need to lube up the splines on your slip yolk shaft. Not too much grease, though, or it will hydrolock and the shaft won't slip back and forth as it should. Think "very thin film".
