Autel DS708 Scanner
Hi,
I have come across this scanner (Link Below) and they say they just came out with an update to support the PSD's. Does anyone have one and how far does it go, can you do a buzz test.... etc. I was thinking about getting AE but this will support just about every car here in the US and it does OBD1 as well

Sorry no experience with that particular scanner. There are several made/look like that even to being named closely Maxim and Maxforce.
Some things to keep in mind when chooseing a scanner. Hand held units have limited memory and data storage. Most solve this by add on cards for each different brand of car. This can greatly increase the cost.
Laptop based units have the available memory and storage of the laptop at their disposal. Considerably increaseing their usefullness. Example greater duration logging files.
When I look at a unit I look from the stand point of a shop environment. I look for the most bang for my buck. As an individual working on one or two different brands not as much of a consideraton but still a consideration.
Generally speaking the more built-in functioality of the base unit the more it costs. Even laptop based units have add-ons. It is finding a unit with a low base cost plus add on cost that will still stay within your budget.
Products like A&E Scan XL are low cost base unit and add-on but less functionality tha IDS/VCM but then They are expandable to other platforms whereas IDS/VCM are Ford specific. A trade off either way.
