With that many miles have you serviced the transmission, I'm thinking of draining the pan every 30K and just topping off the fluid with a filter change every other time.
I hate putting in pinion seals, the last time I had one go out on my work truck I had someone else replace it.

Yeah service the transmission around a hundred thousand miles or so time to do it again the last time I did it it was pristine clean this should cost about 30 bucks from ford. it I'll get it taken care of pretty soon
FYI.. I had a pinion seal go bad on my 99 superduty a while back.. It was caused by the breather hose being plugged up with a small insect nest at the end.. and building up pressure within the rear end.. it also damaged a wheel bearing seal..

Had the same problem on my 2000 DRW but after I changed the way the frame clip was installed on the hose the leak stopped. When we got our 2013 I checked and the clip was the same way, pinching off the hose so I changed it.
