what the heck???

So I go to try and do the (high idle) mod on my 2006 250........ and it appears that the previous owner had an alarm system installed. It also appears that they used the upfitter switch wires. I think I am going to remove the alarm system and start from scratch.

At least he hasn't gone slaphappy with the cutting pliers yet. He still has a chance useing a factory wireing diagram to figure out what actually goes to what.

Got a fella in another forum same general situation only he just cut it all out and now has a no start. Dead truck.

That doesn't make sense since the upfitters have no power when the truck is turned off unless your referring to the pass thru wires?

ok ...

took my time and took pictures (just in case) and also wrote down some things to make sure I could go back like it was if needed.

the only thing that I know is that the alarm system is called

Excalibur AL-2000 EDP .... it has the valet switch that mounts to the window and the small sensor calibration box to adjust the sensitivity.

I have found the PDF of the wiring diagram for the Excalibur and it tells me what each wire represents, but I don't know what wire to use on the (truck side)

What is the end result you want? Remove the alarm and hook up the high idle? Alarm plus the high idle? I assume the alarm isn't working now?

It very likely worked whe it was installed so there's probably an issue with a connection somewhere or its "brain" crapped out. I'd check every fuse I could find to start with. There also may be aftermarket fuses in the harness or somewhere under the dash. I'm not familiar with that style of connector in the picture but I will say the blue "Scotch Lock" clamshell connectors are convenient for tagging on to existing wires but the are pretty much a guaranteed problem down the road. Those yellow ones in your picture look like they work the same way. After fuses I'd open those up and check em out or at least tug on all three wires in each one. Check the owners manual for any self check tests to see if the alarm is still working.

If you just want to remove it, it looks like most of the connections are tagged on, you should be able to open up the connectors and pull them off with no tools. Given the conductor hasn't been cut i would seal the insulation back up with some liquid tape instead of cutting them to get heat shrink back on there. At least one of the circuits will be "interrupted" and will need to be re connected together for the truck to start or run. That's the only one (or three) circuits that may be a puzzle.

Depending on which option you want to use, the high idle mod with pictures and wire colors is in the Tech Folder, you have to step through a couple of links to get to the meat an taters though. There is also info on the upfitter switches. I'd cut a 8in piece of 18-20ga wire and put butt splices on each end before getting under the dash. The necessary wires will reach each other but it would be a pain to crimp without the extra legnth. I think you'll find the alarm system doesn't connect to the high idle wires and hopefully there is still an available upfitter switch.

Good luck with your puzzle!

Actually Rusty I would like to keep the existing alarm (if working) and also the high idle mod.

Thanks,
