valve timing
motor is being rebuilt and i need help with the new timing gear I have a procomp timing cam gear drive does any one know what position the cam gog should be as it has 9 possibles I assume the crank is set with the mark at 12 oclock position
In this case, it is tough to answer this question since we know not what you are working on.
Some performance engines and some cams require a different cam timing than others. Many factory set ups use a rather retarded timing, and it helps to advance a bit.
Straigh up or zero is a good basline for most applications.
You should refer to your instructions to determine which position will provide you with the desired cam timing.
