Pulled into parking lot this morning, 05 F250 CC 4x4 V10, truck starts dinging at me, Park brake light comes on. Ease off of gas and idle around to parking place, no sign of brake drag. Release Park brake, no difference, set the brake and release, no difference, guess the microswitch went bad. Not raining, never hit a bump, MAY have had my foot on the brake, but that shouldn't effect the P Brake.
After setting for the 12 hour shift, all is good and well. Did not come back on.
Can anybody tell me where this switch is? Is it under the cover by the foot set or under the truck along the cable?
Would like to know where to look next time this comes up.
Did have 2 new tires installed on the front a week ago, new tierod and aligned at the same time.
Just wondering and curious, my last F150 had all kinds of electrical germlins in the windshield wiper arm.
On my 2003, the switch to turn off the light on the dash for the parking brake was right at the dash basically above the pedal. There is a little rubber bumper piece attached to the pedal, and when the pedal reaches the top of its travel, it pushes the ~1/4" long button into the switch and turns off the light and dinger. Just before my pedal assembly failed on me a couple of years ago, I noticed that the rubber bumper was cracked and wouldn't always fully engage the switch. You may push the pedal down a little bit and examine the rubber bumper piece to see if you have a similar problem.

Is the park brake light and brake warning light one and the same on your year of truck? The reason I ask is because there is a brake fluid level switch on the master cylinder. If it senses a problem with the brake fluid level, it'll send a warning as well.

Good call. I am not sure that the brake fluid level being low will set off the chime like the parking brake being set will, but it's an easy thing to look into.
Checked tonight and I do not have a rubber boot on the upper end of the backside of parking brake peddle. Cam on the backside seems to make good contact with lots of overtravel on the switch.
Brake fluid level was on min. Added to it.
No problem since the original signs @ 5:30AM @ work.
Hope that I don't see this warning light again for a while.
You guys ROCK!
Good to know that there is a ton of information, (been there, done that!) that we can tap when needed.
