So if you don't have your rods in right that means your bearings probably aren't in the rods right either. Pay close attention to those to there is a top and bottom. They too have a chamfer that corresponds with the chamfer on the rod.
Look on the bright side youre going to be a pro at doing circlips.
When the bearings are right the square side of the rod should have the bearings lining up pretty much perfect. On my other set of bearings the chamfer was very hard to see and when I did not have them in right the bearing on the one side looked longer than the other side. They just didn't mate together right so it was obvious something wasn't right.
Yippee...I know bearings are in correct with upper and lower since they are stamped. Looks like I'm pulling them out and checking. Any tips for getting the circlips out?
My next question lies with the crank, I noticed the style key way for the timing gear is different compared to a stock crank. Therefore my original key won't fit...where do I obtain the proper key to install the timing setup?
My next goal is to install timing chain/ front cover, oil and fuel pump then assemble top end. Hopefully it will look like an engine by the end of the week.
I'm also on the hunt for a passenger car bell housing since I have the top loader with the 1 3/8 shaft and all I have are truck bellhousings. Any leads?

I don't know of any bellhousings
