San Berdoo Pick-a-Part yard, craigslist-Los Angeles.
Thanks Again... I found 1 on Craigslist up in Victorville. Trying to negotiate Him down a bit from $600.00 though... All others on Craigslist won't fit the FE Engine so far.... I will call or visit the San Berdoo Pick a Part soon....
There are 3 basic bells from that era. The sm block is a flat top with the bolt hole 5 1/2in apart, the big block 429/460 is a flat top with the bolt holes 7 1/2in apart. Your truck FE is a round top.
I would suggest getting one from a 73-76 Ford pickup with a 360/390 engine. You need one from a truck because the shift arm runs horizontal -- along the oil pan. A car arm is down / but not that much.
That truck would also have the donor parts for power disc brakes and power steering too. You can buy a donor and get about everything needed for your truck.
Hope this helps
John
Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Jowilker... Excellent Info about the Bolt Holes and the Top Being Round... Makes it MUCH Easier when looking for one to be sure it is correct...
