1987 E350 charging issues

Hello new to me community, I recently purchased a 1987 Citation Motorhome which has a E350 chassis/460. It seemed to drive fine for the couple short trips I did but when we went on a 3/4hr excursion it drove fine for the going part of the trip but coming back was an issue. Doggy, no power, no top speed. Made it home and when checking things over I chose to check the charging by disconnecting the Pos battery terminal. Instantly dead. So my old school Chevy experience tells me 'get a new alternator' so off I went. We charged up the battery and installed a new alternator. Hopped on the Hwy for a test run and BLAH! Same happening. So as said I have Chevy Experience so am at a loss as where to start outside of going over the grounds/terminals and such.

Old School always works...for me! But I also added a Code Reader to my Tool box. First thing that comes to mind is the new Alt might be bad too, try pulling a cable again.......
