Money-Pit, I checked out my LAN settings and if I did it right , I did not see an IP or subnet address. Looked blank. So I saw 3 on the IDS network troubleshooting site. The only one it would accept was 10.0.0.1. with subnet of 255.255 .255.0.
Again, if I did enter it correctly, no good. Can I go back and see what my IP and subnet address is ? Can't seem to find it.
I don't use Windows that much anymore so I think that this will
be a help for you finding things and a way to learn about the
under the hood of windows also.
I use a Mac Pro. Only use Windows for things that are Windows only.
Yahiko, I just want to let you and all the other FTE members here how much I appreciate everything you have done to help resolve this issue for me.I personally would rather repair a shop full of broken 6.0's than computer problems.
Thanks for that WIN.7 video My Toughbook device manager showed no problems with Network Adapters[ nothing popped out]. Its using ''Realtek RTL8139/810 Family Fast Ethernet NIC ''
My home WIN 7 Premium Device Manager did not show problems either.
But, the Network Adapters did not show Realtek at first. Went back again and now it shows ''Realtek RTL8150 USB 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter'' .
The numbers are different as well as not originally being under Network Adapters. Strange, but at this point the dog is starting to look strange.
I will try again this morning using the WIN 7 Premium.
Her eis a screen shot from one of the pages in that PDF I think it would be good to read.
I will be off all day and won't be back online for a while. Might be able to check with phone.
Let us know what you find and I'll try to look in between things.
OK . Thanks for the link. I have both the Motorcraft Operations Book and the AVI Training book and video.
The LED 'S flash so fast on start up I am guessing that they flash 5 to1 twice and 1 to 5 twice. After failed PCM connection attempt #1 is off
#2 is green -blinking
#3 red - steady
# 4 off
#5 yellow-slow blink
While trying to find PCM, #1 was blinking quick and erratic. The others were same as above.
I know when my license expired , I could not get IDS on the screen. So I don't think what Super Duty Service said in post #24 was correct. Only if you wanted to program and get updates.I am sure that tech that helped out last week would have confirmed that I need to renew my license .
If I still have this next weekend, I will be seeing my son inlaw . He works for a Ford Dealership and is sharp with computers. I will take it with me and let him see if I screwed up on the downloads or LAN stuff. Maybe try another cable.
OP said it was a official VCM but licsence is now expired. Very old version though.
I am finding conflicting information on line as to whether it can still connect but not fully work.
Since I no longer have one to play with I can not verify one way or the other.
Yes , its a real Rotunda dealership tool [used]. I had seen that starting w/ver78 a license is required to do anything.
Emailed Motorcraft Yesterday to confirm. Hopefully they get back to me soon. I also have field reps #. Maybe thats why seller picked v75.00 to install.
I do know when I tried IDS after the license ran out, I could not get past the IDS screen. Let alone start a new session verifying the VCM and looking for the PCM. But I don't know what ver. that was.
I called the FORD Tech line late yesterday and got the worst tech. All he wanted to say was to upgrade to v94 with a licence. I felt like Perry Mason ,constantly asking if its possible to run v75.00 without a licence. He kept skirting my question. Frustrating to say the least.
So this morning I called a Ford IDS Field Rep. for the Southeast Region. When he called back, he understood what I was trying to do. He said v75.00 can be used without license if the VCM was original- meaning never updated. Once its updated ,it then requires a license. He said good luck finding one. Would be an old one that had little use.
On Wed, the 29th after many efforts on my part to contact the seller since the 27th the seller agreed to refund me 1,200. of my 1,550 and take back this IDS.
He agreed at my request to email me a confirmation of said agreement.
Two days of BS text messages and nothing.
Would you return your 1,200. tool back to someone without some type of confirmation, with just a verbal ok on the phone? Some one who now has a track record [with me ] as poor as he has shown by his actions to date?
