I have ordered 2 door lock actuators off of ebay. I only need 1 but couldnt beat 2 for $9. I am going to mod my tailgate to lock/ unlock with the factory door locks, IMHO an option that should have came with the truck.
Its a pain to keep using the key to lock/ unlock it, and when its all said and done it should cost me a grand total of $30 and a few hours time. I dont know why Ford dont just do this from the factory. After seeing it on 2 of my co workers Dodge trucks I researched a bit and found how easy it is to add.

You could copy the bracket easily. There is a vid on the website that tells you which wires to tap into also
I had already ordered the actuators, so I will just proceed that way.
I watched the pop and lock video prior to posting this thread with hopes of clarifying the correct wires to tap, and it didn't fail me. The actuators I ordered come with brackets that can be fabricated, I have a couple ideas looking at other forums, but I will have to obviously take things apart and see in person what it looks like in there before I start to put it together.
I also thought about doing this. But, I have a locking bed cover and it requires opening to properly close the tailgate. Since my keys are already out, it's no big deal to have to open the tailgate lock and only requires a few more seconds. I still think its a good project for those who aren't in my situation.
man this would be nifty not gonna pay 90 beans for the pop n lock deal. the only issue i can see is that damn bracket. please post what you have done for the bracket. thanks
sounds nifty and like the idea and don't like reaching for keys all the time.
I'd be slightly concerned someone can pop the door lock and then unlock and runaway with tailgate

Locks are for honest thrives anyway. All it does is slow them down a bit. I suppose they could bypass the door all together and just pop the tailgate lock direct.
