croc pot dinner prep while driving?

I'm heading out to go ride atvs for the weekend and my wife said shed fix a Vinison roast for me but she had another idea, for me to cook it on the way in my new truck that has 110 power. Its a crock pot pulling 150 watts on high, 130 on low. and i wanted and to see if anybody knows for sure, on my six hour drive, can i fix the roast in the truck with the factory 110?

Thanks

It would really depend on what wattage the inverter can handle.

But my question is- HOW can you spend six hours smelling that thing cooking??? I'd be ready to eat the skin off of the steering wheel 2 hours in...

Yep, the real challenge is the wait. She's got a recipe that's so good, it's too easy to be true but that's another story. I have two knuckleheads going with me that are like bulls in a China shop. The thought crossed my mind to run an extension cord to the toolbox in bed to keep from knocking it over or smelling it until its done. That would be a great suprise huh, open the toolbox and wham, smells like dinner! Well, we are heading out so i think im gonna try it, ill let yall know. Thanks for the encouragement!

Also if you at or near the max for the inverter the
long term use at that level might cause a problem.
Just keep that in mind..

The funny thing is I thought that your were going to ask about
how to cool an old style traveling salesman dinner on the manifold.

I used to know a guy that had a 12V crock pot. He used to do this all the time. Do a Google search on "12 colt crock pot", you'll find dozens of them.

I'm sure that Ford specs out the max wattage for the 110v outlet, in the owner's manual. I'm surprised your crock pot doesn't draw more current than that. I would use 12v if possible, to avoid frying the inverter in the truck.

I don't think the inverter is rated for that much wattage.

If nothing else go to Walmart and by a cheap 200w inverter.

My worry is that even if you under the max. Just how long
could you run at that rating and not over heat the thing?

Well, you'd cook the inverter, if nothing else

The inverter is 150 watts and overload protected. Mostly meant for power tool chargers. Could work with low settings on the crock pot. I just don't know how the food would stay in the pot given the not so velvet smooth ride of the 250.

how many watts or amps is the crockpot? Heat pulls a lot of electricity.

Here's a portable one. Takes 240 watts at 110v.
Crock-Pot® Programmable Cook & Carry? 6-Quart Oval Slow Cooker at Crock-Pot.com

Unless you find a pot that pulls less than 150 watts, I'd get a bigger inverter....
