The way I understood it any ELM-327 OBD II would work with the 7.3. Is that right?
OBDII is the interface, but the protocol isn't OBDII compliant, just OBD-I
I do use ELM327 Bluetooth to pull codes and run TorquePro, no problem. But you have to set whatever software to ODB-I or FORD protocol.
Apparently "Auto Detect" feature is part of ODBII (so I gather, can't say for certain).
There are those here who know this much better if you want more than just the basics
Draining a little fuel from the bowl removes water, some crud, small contaminants, etc. Just be sure it seals back up. Some have had trouble with those drains leaking.
Mine doesn't leak, but I'm rebuilding the whole bowl with orings and seals over the next few days (started SNOWING here today , so pausing a bit).
.......................Check engine light? Mine is on and I'm driving and ignoring it at the moment. Why? I checked and it is the #3 glowplug. Intermittently I've had cylinder #3 go low. I ordered the UVCH for each side and will replace it.
When you go to replace the UVC harness on that side. Swap the glow plug with another one and see if you can get the code to move to another hole. That way you can see if the cause is the harness or the glow plug. either way - new UVC harnesses after 13 years is a good thing.......
