good morning group,
I have recently purchased a 2000 Ford Excursion XLT, 2WD, 6.8L V-10 and LOVE my new (to me) ride!
My question is this: Hoe is my truck classified weight-wise; 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or? I do need to replace shocks, and I would like to hear what others of Excursion owners prefer. I have looked through previous posts, but have only seen one recommendation for Rancho 9000 shocks.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Why do you ask? Yes, it is basically on a F250 platform, but different states handle these vehicles differently. Are you concerned about registration and other legal red tape?
As the others have said, yes it is essentially an F-250 3/4 ton vehicle but most states consider it's fully enclosed and multi row interior as a station wagon or car. I like that, here in PA my EX cost me less to register than my old 1/2 ton Chevy truck!
I use and really like my Rancho RS9000XL adjustable shocks, many others here use the Bilstien (don't recall the model number) shocks that are also a very good choice, then of course you have more economically priced Monroe OEM style shocks too.
Welcome to the EX family, we are always here to offer advice and to help you spend your money on that new buggy!
We do require pictures here too!
