I recently inherited my uncles 1973 f250 it has been sitting for 10yrs, it actually started (after normal maintance of course) have some issues, major one is to much gas.. we dropped the tanks cleaned them , replaced all filters, re-built the carb but now gas is overflowing in engine if it back fires it catchs on fire , im at a lose
Again, assuming its the carb, a gentle tap on the float bowl with a hammer may free up the float... but probably time to rebuild the carb or swap a reman carb.
I agree with the guys, the float is likely wide open.. If a sharp tap doesn't fix it, open it back up and make sure you put the o-ring under the needle seat
You can also bend the float downwards(holding the metal part that hinges with needle nose pliers) to lower the gas level, thus pushing harder on the needle valve

My .02 get a nice 600cfm carb and tune that puppy with a wideband o2. The truck cost you nothing, might as well make doimg this easy on yourself. You dont need the extra setup they run. In this link that logs everything. Just a plain lm2or autometer 3041 wideband will be good. Like this http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/engines-drivetrain/0510ch-carburetor-tuning-gas-mileage/

how can you make that CFM recommendation when you don't even know what kind of engine is in their truck. Maybe their carb builder did something wrong and just needs tweaked up a bit and not replaced. Hell it could have been a faulty float.
Another case of spending someone elses money.
