What's the best way to hoist a 460 and C6?

Im going to be placing a 460 with a C6 attached into my Highboy. Where are the best places to put the bolts and chain?

Use a tilting sling where ya have four connection points and the chains can be adjusted depending on where they are attached. I use the intake bolts and the blind holes on the side of the heads. Btw, the crank handle of the sling should be at the rear or else you'll fun out of room to turn it if the boom is at a high angle.

Unless ya got a gantry crane or A-frame set up, I am one to recommend ya pull the dog house... an engine and trans up that high gets tippy due to the very high center of gravity and on a 4x4 especially so.

Good luck and be safe.

The entire front end is off the truck, so lifting it to high angles is not an issue. I was going to use the blot holes in the back and front of the heads at 4 points. I just don't want to break any pieces off the heads. I want to make sure its a safe place to mount it up.

Use shorter bolts on the front chains, when it gets nose high to drop the trans in and under they could slip fwd?? Ouch.

Looking good.

You know, I bought the engine and transmission out of a 1973 Highboy which was being parted out. It was a 429 Thunder Jet with the C6 attached. To tell you the truth I never even thought of that. Mine has the boss you are talking about. I'll post up a picture here soon.

The tail shafts are similar but different. Can you not just swap them out?
