I forgot, I have a 1989 7.3 in a E 250 , could I take the pump off it. That truck has not been started for about 6 years but it had a good motor and pump.
Any help would be great, R n D will set me up so thanks for all the info on his stuff.
Well considering its only going to cost you the time to swap them, I wouldn't worry about it sitting. If it was left full of diesel it should still be in good shape. It may need a dose of ATF, diesel clean, or the like run through/sitting for a day to clear things up if the fuel gummed anything up.
I'd say swap them while you're saving up for a good rebuilt pump. Also buys you the time to send the pump from the truck in to be rebuilt if the van pump gets it running.
If I stick it in there I want it to be permanent, if I decide to save this truck more than likely just get a R n D and be done with it. Justin seems to have pretty good handle on getting the stuff out from what he says.
Money is not the issue, there are some real good deals out there. I saw a
low mileage PS for 5 grand F350 1997. It only has 130 thou on it and looks to be in real good shape. I want old school and may fix this but if not I will try and find a low mileage IDI, they make more sense to me over the long haul. thanks for the help.
Last IP that I dealt with that had been left sitting for an inordinate amount of time (few years) was completely red on the inside with algae and didn't last for very long before it went ka-blooey. If you clean it out though and make sure it's good to go, you shouldn't have a problem with it.
I know they are the way to go, it is not 4 wheel drive , I can check on it and will be surprised if it is not sold. It's a green extenda cab and come with 2 bed toppers. Aren't the IDI's better for running waste oil ?
The IP on my truck currently came off of a truck that cavitated in 2004, it had been sitting since then. Swapped it on, wasn't getting fuel. Something was gummed up,drained it, took the top off, filled it with a half and half mixture of diesel Kleen and mystery oil. Let it sit for a week, it free'd up and ran excellent, That was over 10k miles ago.
