Back up camera
Back up camera
My 2015 came with the factory back up camera.
a couple of questions.
On my 2011 you could set the camera to stay on until you went over 3 or 5 mph in a forward gear. This helped when you were backing and pulling forward and backing again while hooking up a trailer.
My 2015 turns off as soon as I put it in drive. I can't find an option for it to stay on for that shuttling back and forth. Is that feature gone now,or am I just missing it?
Second ? How do I get rid of those stupid green and yellow boxes that pop up as your hitch approaches the ball? It's hard enough to see where the ball is in some direct sun light situation. add the boxes and it's impossible

Good luck!
Nels
It's on/in the center stack / nav screens.
Menu/Vehicle/Camera settings/Guide lines (for the boxes)
Note per the manual, you cannot set these while the truck is in Reverse.
Enhanced Parking Aids
The camera DELAY can be set to stay on for 10 seconds or 6 MPH, whichever comes first!

Do not think you are being smart aleck but telling the truth....most do not read manual or search online for an answer before they scream for help and then get po'd at folks who might give them wrong info....

The system uses red, yellow and green
highlights which appear on top of the video
image when an object is detected by the
reverse sensing system. The alert highlights
the closest object detected. The reverse
sensing alert can be disabled and if visual
park aid alert is enabled, highlighted areas
are still displayed.
Selectable settings for this feature are ON
and OFF.

I see some man-card corners getting clipped off around here. It's one thing to RTFM but it's another thing to admit it.

I pulled the manual out yesterday BEFORE I posted. I looked in the index under Camera and under Back up and under Reverse. It's not listed. Short of reading 500 pages hoping to find a subject not listed in the index, the forum is the next best.
Since I knew I had made adjustment on my 2011, I was pretty sure it was in the command center. Again, I scrolled through that yesterday. Looking in the Vehicle, Driver and information catagories, and didn't find it.
Thanks for the Page number, I'll work on it today.

On Roy's advice, I read the manual.. On page 176 under parking aids it says that I can change the camera settings by selecting. MENU-VEHICLE-CAMERA SETTINGS
On my truck, If I go to menu, vehicle , I have the following choices
Auto lamp delay
DTE Calculation
Easy Entry/Exit
Locks
Maintenance
Menu Control
Oil Life reset
Remote Start
Windows
Wiper Control
There is no option for Camera. So the manual is wrong. Where are you guys finding this setting?

hm.. the online owners manual for the 12 says there is a setting in the driver assist section for camera delay. not on mine..
I have the nav, the manual says
Image delay if displayed through the rearview mirror:
When shifting out of R (Reverse) and into any other gear, the image in
the rearview mirror will remain on for a few seconds before it shuts off
to assist in parking or trailer hookup.
Image delay if displayed through the navigation screen:
After shifting out of R (Reverse) and into any gear other than P (Park),
the image in the navigation screen will remain until the vehicle speed
reaches 5 mph (8 km/h), only if the rear camera delay feature is on, or
until any navigation radio button is pressed.
Note:
The default setting for the rear camera delay is off. Press the
“Settings” button found on the navigation screen (if equipped) to set the
rear camera delay feature to on or off
I don't have a settings button on my nav.
ah, the NAV book says
When the vehicle is in R (Reverse),
press SETTINGS to make
adjustments to the brightness of the
display as well as the rear camera
display
and there it is.. and it was off. thanks for making me look it up
